Grand Prix & US Open

These past weeks have been a trip. I went from CO to Reno, and had to stay there because I couldn’t get a ride to Mammoth Lakes. Luckily there was a shuttle the next day and my friend Michelle traveled with me. The weather turned bad for competing but great for powder! Best powder days I had all season. I even went skiing for a bit with a teammate, I used little D’s stuff and she used mine. It was a lot of fun, I killed it on skis. There were three days of a blizzard and it was crazy that not many people wanted to ride. This was great because we got to take full advantage of it, free refills all days! Also my Zeal Goggles made seeing everything easier during the blizzard as well as the blue sky on competition day. Once it came to competition day it was beautiful. Sadly I started to freak out about the course, but I pulled it together and landed a run, but nothing I’m really proud of. However overall it was a good trip. Luckily my friend Joanna had the same travel plans as me getting to NH. Next stop, the US Open. We flew from Reno through Denver to Manchester, NH, then drove to Vermont. Finally it was the US Open, where I think was the best course of the season. It was so much fun and not scary. Sadly I broke my thumb, this time the funniest least scary course broke me. I still got to take my semi’s run and earned 10th place even being broken, which I’m proud of. I wish I could have taken the run I had imagined, but maybe next time. It was still a fun time; I met a lot of great people and got to see old friends. Now I get to spend some time at home recovering from this little injury. I’m going to come out stronger from this, things slowly always work out. This season hasn’t gone exactly how I wanted, but everything happens for a reason I suppose.

World Snowboard Championships in Oslo, Norway

This past week was the WSC in Oslo, a great place to go. The competition was great had a really fun course. Although it was not as scary as I though it might be, I sadly didn’t make it past qualifiers. We had a wicked head wind and I just couldn’t pull it together. But we had great days, and practice always went well. The landings were a little flat so my body is sore now, but thankfully my LaMar Allure snowboard (lamarsnowboards.com) held up really well with the landings and knuckles I found. The mountain was right outside of Oslo, so it was awesome to see the city and furred from the mountain. It made taking laps really easy and quick. We also had a T-bar, which I haven’t been on in a while. It was funny to watch some of the locals try to ride it; they just don’t seem to get it. Luckily I didn’t really need my helmet because I didn’t hit my head but my Shred Ready (Shredready.com) helmet was awesome. A lot of girls were talking about their helmets flying back, and mine didn’t because of the adjustable setting, which I really like.
My good friend Kelli moved to Oslo which was awesome because I got to see her again, and she played tour guide for me and my dad. So we got to do some stuff I would have never know existed there. Like sledding, or death sledding as some call it which is pretty true, it was sketchy but so much fun. We got to ride those old fashion sleds too or luge sleds as some call them. I didn’t even know they still existed; glad they do somewhere. We also did a lot of sight seeing around Oslo like the opera house, and walked around the harbor. It was fun to spend some time in that part of Norway, guess I’m going to have to come up with another excuse to go back. Maybe to the northern part next time, because I really need to see the northern lights. And more fjords, the really cool once not like were Oslo is; some don’t even consider it a fjord which I can see why.
Next it’s off to Mammoth for the Grand Prix and Vermont for the US Open and home! Excited to go back for a little bit to see some family who have given so much support and love.

SIA

This year I got to go to SIA snow show! Only got one day but I think it went well. I met a lot of companies and think I made some good connections. I did get one new company called Shred Ready, I got a new Helmet. I really like it the adjustable part in the back and the magnetic clip is awesome. It will be nice to not have to fix my helmet when riding because it flew back. I got to go with my friend Jared who I’m also riding for. He owns Riders Anonymous; he helped to make most of the connections possible. I’m happy I moved to Colorado. Can’t wait to hear back from the other companies and see what they can offer me. Hopefully I do great in the Canadian Open so prove I’m worth it. I also just received an invite to Norway for the World Snowboarding Championships. Will see if I end up going but feels good to be invited.

New Season

This season started out slow but good. Not a lot of snow here in summit, Co. however we have started to get some! It was cold enough to make snow so the park was pretty awesome. Got to practice a lot and getting ready to step it up. I went to the first two competitions of the season, a Burton Pro-test and a Rev Tour. The pro-test went well got second! The course was pretty fun also. Mammoth was hurting a lot for snow though, never thought I’d have to dodge rocks and joeys’ at the same time. North Star wasn’t doing as bad but not as good as CO. it was fun though lots of practice time. The competition didn’t go as well but guess it’s hard to slow down! It was a very fun trip and hope my next one to Calgary, AB for the Burton open, goes as well or better. Can’t wait though! The season is starting to come together.

Hi again, so I got a sponsorship with LaMar snowboards! Really excited about that, their boards are pretty fun. Haven’t gotten to ride the boots or bindings yet, but they should be great. Can’t wait to start riding my new set up! Also I got a full Bio up on their web site www.LaMarsnow.com under team! I was a little surprised at what pictures they picked, I wonder what they’re planning ... The bio questions were kinda fun to fill out.

I can’t wait to get started with this season! Well, I kinda started, but had to take a brake for lack of snow, and moving. Timberline never really lost any snow and opened early for weekends. And the hike up, when they’re closed really wasn’t that bad. Hopefully some jibbing here in UT and then pow in CO!

End of Summer!

This summer I was at Hood, and I still am. I worked at skibowl where I worked a lot definitely didn’t get to ride as much as I wanted, but when I did get to ride I took full advantage of it! I also worked at the adventure park, operating the bungee tower and rapid riser. I feel I learned a decent amount of tricks, and definitely feel using the Bungee tower and rapid riser really helped me learn and get muscle memory for jump tricks, and get real comfortable being corked and upside down! Hood is a great place and I have met some great people. I’ve really enjoyed all the exploring that I did here, lots of great things to do and see! Really glad I came here this summer, and maybe again next summer, unless something unexpected comes my way.
So still killing some time, but going to go to Utah soon and then off to Summit county Colorado! So excited to try there, really hope I can get a good job!

Summer at Mount Hood!

This summer I moved to Hood to snowboard and work. I’ve been working more than snowboarding but make the best of it when I get to ride. I’m working at ski bowl’s adventure park, getting to play on the bungee tower, rapid riser and rock wall. It’s been a pretty fun job, and then I get to ride for free at Timberline. Their public park has been pretty epic this summer so much fun. Also riding my lamar board has been alot of fun, rides all the park really well. I have been camping out this summer to save some money for this winter; it’s been a trip lol. I have made some new friends, and gotten to do lots of fun things like, raft, rock climb, hike, swim, snowboard lots of fun summer activities. Hood is great for that, lot of things to do. I got another month for fun and then back to Utah for a minute and off to wherever I decide to go for this winter.
